What BandMate AI Is

BandMate AI is the most structurally ambitious product in the portfolio, because it serves three audiences at once. Musicians get gig tracking, payment splits, mileage logging, earnings reports, setlists with backing tracks and transposable chord charts, and tax-ready expense records. Venues get booking management, band discovery, direct messaging and reviews. Fans get discovery, follows, photo and video sharing, and song requests.

Three-sided marketplaces are hard: each side is worthless without the others. Building one solo meant every feature had to earn its place, because there was no budget to subsidise a side that wasn't pulling its weight.

The problem

Working musicians run a business on spreadsheets, group texts and Venmo requests. Venues book bands through whoever they happen to know. Fans find out about a show the day after it happened. Nothing connects the three.

What We Built

Gig tracking and payment splits

Log the gig, split the money across the band automatically, and stop chasing four people for their share of a Venmo request.

Mileage, expenses and tax records

Mileage logging, equipment and expense tracking, and earnings reports that come out tax-ready — the business half of being a working musician, which no one enjoys.

Setlists, backing tracks and chord charts

Build a setlist, play backing tracks straight from it, and pull up chord charts with transposition — the on-stage tools, not just the back office.

Venue booking management

Venues manage their calendar, discover local bands, message them directly, and leave ratings — replacing the personal-network booking process.

Fan discovery and follows

Fans find local live music, follow bands, share photos and video from shows, and request songs — the demand side that makes the other two worth joining.

Marketplace and jobs board

Gear and opportunities exchanged between people already on the platform, deepening the reason to stay.

Why this matters for you

A three-sided marketplace is the hardest product shape there is. Designing one that stays coherent — and building it without a team — is the clearest demonstration of what AI-assisted development actually changes.

Questions About BandMate AI

Why build a three-sided platform solo?

Because it's the hardest test we could set ourselves. Each side has to be useful before the others arrive, which forces genuinely good product decisions rather than feature-count competition.

Is BandMate AI free?

It's free to get started, for all three sides. A marketplace with a paywall at the door never reaches the point where it's worth paying for.

What does this prove about your custom development work?

That we can hold a complex, multi-audience system in one coherent design and ship it. Most business software is far simpler than this and still gets built badly.
