API powering three properties

What News Hub Fantasy Is

News Hub Fantasy is where the portfolio stops being content and starts being software. It's a full fantasy sports platform for the UFL, CFL and IFL: season-long leagues with live drafts, weekly pick'em, survivor pools, and daily-fantasy lineup and results tools — with roughly 8,000 users playing on it.

It also does double duty. The same platform serves the public API that CFL News Hub and UFL News Hub consume for team, player, and game data. One system feeds three properties, which is why the portfolio can keep growing without the maintenance load growing with it.

The problem

Fantasy sports exist for the major leagues and nowhere else. Fans of the UFL, CFL and IFL had no way to play — and a news site that fans only visit for scores has no reason to keep them between games.

What We Built

Season-long fantasy leagues

Create a league, run a live draft, set lineups weekly, and compete through the season — the full experience fans expect from the major-league platforms.

Weekly pick'em

The low-commitment entry point: pick winners each week without managing a roster. It's what converts casual readers into returning users.

Survivor pools

One team a week, no repeats, last player standing wins — a format that keeps a whole league engaged for months.

DFS lineup builder and results tracker

Daily-fantasy tools for building salary-cap lineups and tracking how they scored, for the users who want more than one contest a week.

League media pages

Every league gets its own front page — standings, matchups, and activity — so a private league of ten friends gets something that feels like a sports network.

Public data API

Teams, players and game data are served to CFL News Hub and UFL News Hub through a shared API keyed by league, so all three properties stay in sync from one source of truth.

Why this matters for you

Real multi-user software with drafts, scoring, and live state — not a brochure site. When we say we build custom applications, this is the class of thing we mean.

Questions About News Hub Fantasy

Is News Hub Fantasy free to play?

Yes — leagues, pick'em, survivor pools and the DFS tools are free. It exists to deepen engagement across the portfolio, so putting it behind a paywall would defeat the purpose.

Why build a fantasy platform instead of licensing one?

Nothing on the market covered the UFL, CFL and IFL. Building it meant we owned the data layer as well as the game, which is why the same system now powers the news sites' team and player pages.

What kind of custom software can you build for a client?

This class of thing — multi-user applications with real state, live updates, and an API other systems consume. See our rapid application development and custom AI agent services for how that engagement works.
