What Pet Sitter Frederick Is
Pet Sitter Frederick is Dawn's home-based pet sitting business in Frederick, Maryland — drop-in visits, dog walking, boarding and daycare in her own home, cat sitting, overnight home sitting, wedding pet services and a pet taxi. Its old WordPress site had something worth protecting: blog articles that already ranked in Google for local and pet-care searches.
We rebuilt it on Next.js and FastAPI without giving that up. Every WordPress post kept its exact URL, the articles moved into a proper database with their images, and the new site added what the old one couldn't do well: real prices on every service, a rate calculator, an AI assistant that answers questions at any hour, and a lead pipeline that lands in the owner's inbox.
The problem
A small local business had outgrown its WordPress site but couldn't afford to lose the search rankings it had built over years. Most rebuilds change the URLs, drop the old content and quietly reset a business's visibility to zero.
What We Built
Legacy URLs preserved exactly
Every migrated article still lives at its original root-level address, and old WordPress paths — uploads, testimonial and team pages — redirect to their new homes. Nothing Google already knew about had to move.
Prices posted up front
Each of the nine services shows its rate on the homepage and its own page, with multi-pet and holiday rules spelled out. A visitor knows what it costs before they pick up the phone.
Pet sitter rate calculator
Pick a service, the number of visits and pets, and whether it falls on a holiday, and the pricing page totals the booking from the real rate table — no quote request needed.
AI chat assistant
“Ask Pet Sitter Frederick” is a Claude-powered assistant that knows the services, pricing and FAQs, answers pet owners after hours, and captures their details and pet information as a lead.
Nearby-town service pages
Dedicated pages for Middletown, Urbana and Walkersville extend the business's local search reach beyond Frederick itself, each written for that community.
Owner admin and AI article writer
A private dashboard for leads, newsletter subscribers and blog posts, with an AI writer that drafts pet-care articles for review — so the site keeps publishing without the owner becoming a web editor.
